Salary: £22,335 per annum

As welfare reforms continue to bite, our advisers are seeing increasing numbers of clients wanting to challenge benefits decisions. Accessing free specialist help has been problematic since the withdrawal of legal aid for social welfare law. To help address this problem in Portsmouth we have secured a grant from a charitable trust, to employ a full time paid specialist adviser/caseworker for three years. There is scope within the project to provide clients with in depth support where needed. Based at our city centre headquarters at Ark Royal House, Winston Churchill Avenue, you will also deliver outreach work, including home visits to vulnerable clients and therefore a DBS check maybe required. You will also help to support volunteers in advice delivery, including acting as technical consultant and monitoring quality of advice. You will have a strong background in social welfare law; excellent written and verbal communication skills and the confidence to represent clients at Tribunal.
